Reasons You May Lack Energy

There are many things that effect our lives and out ability to get the things done that we want to do. The amount of energy that we have dramatically effects how much we do. When we lack energy or are chronically tired, we wonder why we cant do all the things we used to do. I have listed 5 reasons you may be lacking energy, see if these apply to your life.

1. Attitude

When you have a bad attitude, everything looks grim. If you change your attitude you will not only have more energy, you will change your life. Try to find the good in every situation, I know that this is not always easy and that I may be asking a lot, but the more you do it the easier it will become.

2. Clutter and Disorganization

Being disorganized can make you feel tired as well as overwhelmed and discouraged. It is really frustrating when you have to look for something again and again.

There are many reasons that people become disorganized or start to collect clutter. If your clutter or disorganization habit is a recent development in your life, ask yourself what has changed. Has someone passed away, or has your job become more stressful. Often times when we figure out the cause and deal with it, we can deal with the clutter and disorganization and not let it come back.

3. Not eating enough

If you are on a diet with severe calorie restriction, you will most likely be feeling tired and drained. If you maintain a low calorie diet for a long period of time, your body will go into starvation mode, slowing your metabolic rate. This will tell your body that you need to conserve as much energy as possible, your body will stop putting energy into things that it deems unnecessary to sustain life. Make sure that you are eating enough calories to sustain your body’s vital functions and give you the energy you need to live your life. Eat every 2 or 3 hours to sustain blood sugar levels and keep your body out of starvation mode.

4. Stress

Stress quickly depletes energy stores. We all have stress, it is not something that we are going to be able to get away from. The trick is to learn to deal effectively with stress. Meditate, exercise, and keep a journal of what is stressing you out. Practice putting your stresses into perspective, ask yourself if what you are stressed about will matter in a year if the answer is no, learn to let go.

5 . Saying yes when you want to say no

When you spend time doing things you don’t want to do, it makes you tired. Find things to do that lift you up and give you energy. If you are spending all of your energy on things that don’t really matter to you , it might be time to shift gears and find ways to participate in activities that sustain you and bring you joy.

When you lack energy, life is no fun. Look at the areas in your life that I described above and make changes for the better. When you take care of yourself, you are better able to take care of others and life becomes fun again.
